Josh Kaufman, an American business coach and author of a bestseller once said, "For everything we don't like to do there's someone out there who's really good, wants to do it and will enjoy it."
In today's world of startups many organisations are focused on development of the product, which they imagine or forecast, only via their own thought processes. The real testing of any product or service happens only through customer feedback. Customer never purchases anything unless they really feel the need of it.
The startups try to attract few known customers or acquaintances via direct mode of communication and treat them as customers. These organisations cannot afford to build their own team and run it on their own. This typically happens due to major reasons, lack of funds to build a in-house sales team & lack of experience in running a sales team.
Most of the leading organisations today have shifted to outsource their sales work. They prefer to raise funding via customer payouts than pleasing a series of investors. This type of outsourcing is done at various stages by different organisations. The startups typically adopt to fashion of business in a very early stage to attract their first customers. The established organisations jump up to outsource the sales of their product or service when they are exploring a new territory or when they are introducing into a new vertical.
However, many organisations fall prey to this excitement of outsourcing and end up billing a comparatively higher amount of expenses. So before you outsource always check if your product and pocket is ready for this activity. Define the start and exit points and sign up a contract with the outsourcing partner only for that time period.
If certain contractual norms are arranged well then the rest of journey seems to be rather pleasing and cost efficient. So before you think of setting up your sales team which might be a costly affair, always visit the fact that it can be much lighter to outsource such processes than building an in-house infrastructure.
